Modern youth of Uzbekistan is a strategic force determining the future of the country
2025-01-24 1281According to UNESCO, by 2030, there will be 1.3 billion young people living in the world. This demonstrates the importance of the role that youth will play in ensuring dynamic development, especially in developing countries, where they make up 90% of the world's population.
At the same time, it is necessary to recognize that today's youth lives in difficult conditions. As experts note, modern youth are growing up in very difficult conditions, when old values have already been broken, and new ones have not yet been formed or have not become generally accepted. In fact, they have to solve not only personal problems, but also complex socially significant issues that were not on the agenda of the previous generation (climate crises, pressure from the digital space, etc.).
It is worth noting that the above trends are also characteristic of the youth of Uzbekistan, which makes up almost a third of the country's population, and in the age group to 30 years, this figure reaches 60%.
It should be emphasized that the youth agenda is one of the priority tasks in implementing the strategic course for the development of our state. The President of Uzbekistan assigns a special role to young people, emphasizing the need for their involvement and active participation in the development and prosperity of the country. Evidence of this is the fact that 2021 was declared the "Year of Supporting Youth and Strengthening Public Health."
Three years later, the President of Uzbekistan Sh. Mirziyoyev declared 2024 the Year of Support for Youth and Business, thereby demonstrating the country's desire to strengthen the role of youth in socio-economic development. -

2025-01-24 1223Strengthening friendly relations and developing a multifaceted partnership with Malaysia is one of the important priorities of Uzbekistan's foreign policy in Asian direction.
This year marks the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. Over this period, Uzbek-Malaysian relations have been developing consistently and fruitfully, based on the principles of friendship, equality, mutual support, respect and consideration of each other's interests.
The traditional close ties of friendship between the Uzbek and Malaysian peoples are based on common religion, similarity of customs and cultural values.
The main goals and objectives of the strategic development and modernization programs «Uzbekistan-2030» and «Malaysia MADANI» implemented by our countries also demonstrate similarity and are aimed at ensuring sustainable economic growth and improving the quality of life and well-being of the population.
High-level visits and established mechanisms of interstate dialog have played an important role in promoting and deepening bilateral interaction.
To date, six high-level visits have been conducted. In 2020, «friendship groups» were established between the parliaments of the two countries, which significantly intensified inter-parliamentary dialogue. Consequently, in April 2023, Johari bin Abdul, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Malaysian Parliament, visited Uzbekistan. In June 2024, Nur Jazlan Mohamed, the Deputy President of the Senate of the Parliament of Malaysia visited our country. In return, a parliamentary delegation led by Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis Nuriddin Ismoilov paid a visit to Malaysia in July 2024.
Political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries are held regularly, where the sides discuss current issues on the bilateral agenda. Six rounds of political consultations have taken place thus far. Notably, delegations led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited Malaysia in February and July of 2024.
A solid legal framework has been established between the two countries, consisting of 25 intergovernmental and other documents. -
Uzbekistan and Malaysia: co-operation in higher education, science and innovation demonstrates new facets
2025-01-23 1190Uzbekistan and Malaysia have been developing consistent and effective co-operation, establishing strong ties in higher education, science and innovation. Visits and summits between the leaders of the two countries give a powerful impetus to this process, opening up new areas of educational and scientific co-operation.
In February 2025, within the framework of the high-level visit of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Malaysia, it is planned to sign a number of important agreements aimed at further expansion of cooperation. In the era of accelerating globalisation, international cooperation in higher education is of strategic importance. External labor migration as one of the key sources of economic development of Uzbekistan
2025-01-23 1391According to the International Organization for Migration, there are currently 281 million international migrants in the world, with the number of displaced persons reaching 117 million.
In this regard, ensuring safe and legal migration processes in the context of globalization is a multifaceted task, including for the Republic of Uzbekistan, which requires a deep analysis of various influencing factors and their consequences.
Since 2017, Uzbekistan has launched a process of epochal transformations that determine the long-term trajectory of development of the country's social and political life, including large-scale reforms in the labor market, in particular, in the area of external labor migration.
This is confirmed by the amendments made to the updated Constitution of Uzbekistan, the purpose of which is to strengthen measures to protect the labor rights of citizens of the country. From now on, a number of norms guarantee everyone the right to decent work, free choice of profession, working conditions that meet safety and hygiene requirements, fair remuneration determined without discrimination and not lower than the established minimum wage.
However, given the rapid growth of the country's population, the government of Uzbekistan is faced with new challenges in the area of employment of citizens seeking work, including the creation of new jobs, ensuring stability in the social sphere, etc.
In this context, we would like to refer to the indicators, reflecting the current state of the labor market in Uzbekistan.
The country is the leader among the Central Asian states in terms of absolute demographic growth. According to the Statistics Agency, at the beginning of 2025 the population of the country reached more than 37.5 million people, which indicates a significant increase of almost 750 thousand people compared to the beginning of 2024. -

Taking into account the unparalleled and rapid changes occurring in our country's life, as well as the increasingly beautiful and prosperous appearance of our cities and villages, we have every reason to declare that 2024 was a highly productive, fruitful, and blessed year in all respects.
I believe this is due to a significant truth: the idea of “New Uzbekistan”, which has deeply taken root in the consciousness of our people, has inspired each of us toward great goals and transformed into a nationwide movement.
As our President Shavkat Mirziyoyev aptly put it:
"The dreams and aspirations of our people, which have been shaped by our national mindset from ancient times to the present, and have been expressed in various ideas and practical actions, are now embodied in the concept of New Uzbekistan."
When analyzing the profound changes taking place in the life of New Uzbekistan, we can clearly see that in the past year, our country’s reputation as a competitive state and a reliable partner in the world has further grown. Most notably, our constructive initiatives of international and regional significance have been unanimously supported by the global community.
I personally consider this to be the life-giving fruit of the noble ideas and initiatives put forward by the head of our state, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
To confirm my words, I find it appropriate to mention the sincere congratulations and well-wishes sent on the occasion of the new year 2025 to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, by leaders of the most advanced foreign nations, parliaments, governments, prestigious international and regional organizations, global financial institutions, as well as prominent politicians, public figures, and religious leaders. -
