President of Uzbekistan receives Chinese delegation
On March 2, 2020, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the People’s Republic of China, led by Yang Jiechi, member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission Office.
As the Head of the state emphasized, Uzbekistan and China are firmly tied by friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership today.
Regular meetings of the two leaders have allowed the sides to raise the bilateral cooperation to a qualitatively new level and fill it with solid essence.
Thanks to joint efforts, there has been a dynamic growth in the volume of mutual trade turnover. Major investment projects are implemented in Uzbekistan with participation of leading companies and financial institutions of China. Cultural and humanitarian exchange has been expanding.
The distinguished guest, expressing sincere gratitude for the warm welcome, conveyed a personal message from President Xi Jinping to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Deep satisfaction is noted in the letter with the achieved high level cooperation in recent years and gratitude for the support provided in countering the spread of a new type of coronavirus is emphasized.
Current issues in Uzbekistan – China multifaceted partnership were discussed during the conversation.
Particular attention was paid to the need for continuing joint preparation and implementation of priority projects in the energy, oil-gas, chemical, textile, agricultural and other sectors of the economy, on modernizing infrastructure in Uzbekistan.
Views were also exchanged on pressing issues of the international and regional agenda, on enhancement of constructive dialogue within the United Nations, the SCO and other institutions, as well as cooperation within the framework of promoting Belt and Road initiative.
