Parliament as a portrait of the political system of Uzbekistan

For the sixth year in a row, Uzbekistan has been continuing the implementation of the systemic reforms that began after the election of Shavkat Mirziyoyev as the head of the state following the presidential elections held on December 4, 2016. Modern expert studies of the ongoing reforms mainly focus attention on their economic component, as a result of which the term “economization” of Uzbekistan’s domestic and foreign policy has even appeared.

According to the press service of the Head of our state, the summit, chaired by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, was also attended by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev.

It was noted that to intensify business contacts and enhance investment cooperation, mutual visits at the expert level will be organized in the coming months. The activities of the Intergovernmental Commission will be resumed, and Uzbekistan – Vietnam Business Council will be launched.

Particular attention was paid to the issues of establishing inter-parliamentary relations and the implementation of joint educational and other humanitarian programs.
